Practicing bowling action - an extension of the overarm throw. Note the transfer of weight, swiveling from hips to shoulder with follow through. This can be done using stumps as targets and playing games where the students have a central target that they try and hit with a partner on the opposite side who then acts as a fielder before having their turn.
Practicing bowling action. focus on target and straight arm, developing weight transfer and follow through.
Working on two-handed side strike - dominant hand grips above non dominant hand, stance side on to target, steps forward with foot opposite dominant hand, sequential hip and shoulder rotation. Can be further developed into a game such as Rapid Fire where students bat off 3-4 cones to different areas of the field, and try and score runs between 2 wickets before the fielders replace the balls on the cones.
Targeting practice - propelling object towards target. Note the different overarm throw to the bowling action but still the targeting with the opposite arm.
Students have targets such as stumps that they try to hit using a throw rather than a bowling technique to practice accuracy. Students can work in small groups and different distances to targets can be used depending on skill levels.
